RKC past-present batches play friendly match

RAIPUR: Continuing the traditions Rajkumar College, Raipur the past and the present batches of College played the hockey match. The match ended with tie of 3-3 goals each. Purna Chandra Das Cup was donated by brothers of Bhadrak, Odisha, alumni of RKC in memory of their father. Both brothers loved to play hockey. It became a tradition to play matches between old RKC generation and present, said Shivendra N.S. Deo, Vice Principal, Rajkumar College. The match commentary was given by Dr. Aditya Pratap Deo of Kanker, Life Member, General Council, Rajkumar College, Raipur, an Ex-RKCian and Professor of History at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. The highlight of his commentary includes history of the game of Hockey, Man’s hockey has the fastest swing speed of any sport, reaching up to around 103 miles per hour and that Hockey is the 2nd most played sport in the world after football. Hockey is arguably one of the oldest team sport in the world. The match ended in a draw with Past and Present scoring 3-3 goals. The goal scorers from Past team were Raja T.C. Deb of Baramba(1), Bhim V.S. Deo(1) and Arya Pratap Singh Judev (1). The goal scorers from Present team were Chandrabhan Bharti (2) and Himanshu Madkam(1). The equalizer came from the stick of Raja Saheb of Baramba at the dying moments of the game. The team members of the Past are Raja T.C. Deb of Baramba, Maharaja PC Bhanj Deo of Mayurbhanj, Patayet Tribhuwan Chandra Deb of Baramba, Rajesh Deshmukh, Raja Devendra Prasad Dev of Baudh, Raja Giriraj Kishore of Chhuikhadan. Rani Amrita Judev of Jashpur presented the Trophy to Old boys’ Captain Yubraj Janmayjay Mardaraj Harichandan of Nilgiri and Chandrabhan, the Captain of the Present.
