RAIPUR: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a public sector undertaking, Government of India, will provide support to the Chhattisgarh government in eradication of Tuberculosis in the state. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday at New Delhi in the presence of Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri. State Tuberculosis Officer, Chhattisgarh Dr. Dharmendra Gahwai was present for state, an official communication said. IOCL will provide 50 TrueNat machines and five portable digital X-ray machines to Chhattisgarh for TB screening under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The maintenance cost of these machines for three years will be borne by the company. In the three year project, the company will provide assistance to the state government to reduce the number of TB patients by 80 percent. Under the project, a target has been set to reduce the deaths due to TB by 90 percent by the year 2025. As per the agreement, the company will be involved in Active Case Finding campaign (ACF) to identify TB patients in the early stages of the disease, provide free treatment and take care. It would help to increase the rate of complete recovery of TB patients in the state by March 31, 2026. The company is supporting the Central TB Division of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the implementation of the National TB Control Programme. IOCL is providing cooperation for the eradication of TB in two states of the country, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh, under the Intensive Tuberculosis Elimination Project.
