Chief Minister unveils the statues of freedom fighters Ghanaram Banchhor and Gendlal Banchhor

PATAN (Durg): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said the Patan belongs to many freedom fighters.

Baghel was addressing the event organised to mark Dr Khoobchand Baghel Jayanti, commencing the 100th birth anniversary at Patan, his native village in Durg.

He unveiled the busts of freedom fighters Ghanaram Banchhor and Gandlal Banchhor. He also inaugurated a new rest house for the Water Resources Department in Darbar Mokhli, worth Rs 46.88 lakh. He also dedicated various construction projects worth Rs 1.21 crore for Darbar Mokhli and Semri villages. 

Baghel said Gendlal Banchhor, a pioneer lawyer, joined the struggle inspired by Gandhiji. The letters he wrote to Chhatar Singh depicted immense hardships.

Remembering Dr. Khoobchand Baghel’s song ‘Gajab Vitamin Bhare Hai, Chhattisgarh Ke Baasi Ma’, Baghel highlighted that even during freedom struggle, the emphasis was laid to preserve Chhattisgarh's culture. It is the reason that the state celebrates ‘Bore-Baasi’ Day, showcasing its rich food tradition and hardworking culture.

Baghel highlighted the efforts put on conservation and preservation of the state's culture and heritage. Dr. Khubchand Baghel's 100th birth anniversary, marking a significant milestone for the state.
