CG NEWS: Madwa power plant records maximum power generation

RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company's Atal Bihari Vajpayee Thermal Power Plant Madwa has created a new record of maximum power generation.

It achieved 89.13% Plant Load Factor (PLF) in the month of July, an official communication said.

It is the best ever performance since the construction of the Madwa plant. PLF means the percentage of power generated from the plant's capacity.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy Chief Minister T S Singh Deo and Energy Secretary and Chairman of Power Company Ankit Anand have congratulated the team for the achievement.

S K Katiyar, Managing Director of Generation Company said that two modern units of 500 MW each are operational in Madwa. The power plant had generated 651.2 million units of electricity in 2018 with 87.53 percent PLF, surpassing which it set a new record of generating 663.09 million units of electricity in July last month with 89.13 percent PLF.

In four months of the new financial year, the total power generation from the Madwa plant has been 2493.801 million units, while last year till this month 1737.112 million units of power was generated.

Earlier, in the first quarter report of the Central Electricity Authority, the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company secured the first position in the country in terms of power generation, in which the Madwa plant contributed significantly.
