RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday through a letter to his counterpart at Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged him to provide 42 percent dearness relief to the state pensioners.
The letter states that consent of Madhya Pradesh has been sought for the payment of dearness relief under section 49(6) of the Madhya Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2000.
The officials should be asked to take necessary steps and action to provide 42 percent dearness allowance to the pensioners of Chhattisgarh as soon as the consent is received.
He highlighted an earlier communication that had already been sent to the Madhya Pradesh government on August 2 by the Finance Department, Government of Chhattisgarh with the same request.
The Government of Chhattisgarh had already pledged 42 percent dearness relief to the retired government officials-employees from July 1, 2023. Further action can be taken on pension relief only after receiving the consent.
