CG NEWS: 2457 centenarian voters to cast their vote

* More than 7.25 lakh voters in the age group of 18-19 will vote in Chhattisgarh.

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh voters to exercise their franchise in the assembly general elections 2023 which are held in two phases are 2,03,93,160. In both phases, the number of female voters is more than that of male voters. Along with male and female voters, 753 voters of third gender (transgender) will exercise their franchise.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh states that among the 90 assembly constituencies of the state, Raipur city North has the highest number of 96 third gender voters. Similarly, a total of 275 transgender voters, including the four assembly constituencies of Raipur city, Raipur City North, Raipur City West, Raipur City South and Raipur Rural, will be able to exercise their franchise.

The number of voters in the age group of 18-19 is 7,29,267, who will exercise their franchise for the first time. It is noteworthy that out of total voters, 1,01,35,561 are male and 1,02,56,846 are female voters. There are 2,457 voters in the state who have completed 100 years of their lives and are witnesses of the festival of democracy since its inception.

The Commission has provided the facility of voting through postal ballot at home to voters above 80 years of age and with more than 40 percent disability, taking advantage of which 6,447 senior citizens and disabled voters have decided to vote by post. 19,907 service voters are also exercising their franchise in the Assembly elections 2023. The number of overseas Indian voters is 17.
