CG NEWS: Vasectomy Fortnight till Dec 4

RAIPUR: Vasectomy fortnight awareness campaign will be held in the district through 'Mor Mitan Mor Sangwari' conference in districts across Chhattisgarh till December 4.

The message is of “small family, happy family”.

The aim is to promote vasectomy in the districts across the state. The fortnight will be organized in 02 phases, the first phase will be celebrated as mobilization and the second phase will be celebrated as service delivery phase. An awareness campaign regarding male sterilization fortnight is being run in every village by the Health Department through the conference “Mor Mitan Mor Sangwari”.

The Vasectomy Fortnight is being celebrated on the theme of “Healthy mother, healthy child, when husband's contribution in family planning is good”.

Different vehicles will carry the message to the people. Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bemetara Dr. Ganeshlal Tandon. Dr. Tandon said that vasectomy takes only 10 minutes and one can go home immediately after sterilization. Men can start normal work after sterilization.

During the fortnight, the facility of sterilization operation will be provided in District Hospitals, Community Health Centres for which surgeons will be available from outside the district. With the aim of attracting a maximum number of beneficiaries during the fortnight and creating awareness, health workers are organizing a village-wise list of target couples through ‘Mor Mitan Mor Sangwari Chaupal’.

Bemetara District Advisor Family Welfare Shobhika Gajpal said that after vasectomy, Rs 3,000 will be transferred to the beneficiary's account as incentive amount. The motivator gets Rs 300.
