Lucknow, UP: On the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day, BJP MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh emphasized on achieving the goal of net-zero emissions and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. On Thursday, he highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for achieving net-zero emissions as crucial for contributing to India's green future. PM Modi has set the target for India to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070..In a recent statement, Sarojininagar MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary commitment to achieving net-zero emissions, emphasizing its crucial role in shaping India's green future. Dr. Singh highlighted the transformative potential of solar energy in reshaping the country's energy landscape. India, with its advantageous geographical location and climate, is blessed with abundant solar resources, experiencing approximately 300 sunny days per year and an average solar radiation of 5,000 trillion kWh. This abundance presents a vast opportunity to generate 750 GW of solar power, marking a significant step toward realizing India's ambitious net-zero emission targets. Dr. Rajeshwar Singh underscored the importance of harnessing this abundant solar resource to substantially reduce India's reliance on fossil fuels. By doing so, India can work diligently towards achieving its net-zero emissions target, contributing not only to the global fight against climate change but also fostering sustainable and inclusive development within the country. The MLA further highlighted research findings that support the economic benefits of India's net-zero emission ambitions. The 2050 net-zero target has the potential to boost India's GDP by 7.3 percent (USD 470 billion or 39 lakh cr) and create nearly 20 million (2 crore) additional jobs by 2032. These efforts are not only economically promising but also offer significant benefits for Indian households, potentially saving as much as USD 9.7 billion (80.5k cr) in energy costs by 2060. Dr. Rajeshwar Singh concluded by expressing optimism about the positive impact of India's commitment to net-zero emissions, asserting that it is a holistic approach that aligns with both global environmental goals and the nation's socio-economic development.
