CG NEWS: CM pats Mallakhamb players from Abhujmad

Raipur, CG: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai appreciated the children from Abujhmad for making name and fame through Malkhamb in the country.

The delegation met the Chief Minister at the State Guest House Pahuna on Wednesday evening.

Sai said the children have through their talent taken small steps for bigger flights. Through Malkhamb, they have brought glory to Chhattisgarh in the country and the world. He encouraged the children to continue their efforts.

The children said that their team has won by defeating about 200 teams of the country in the ‘India's Got Talent’ season held in October 2023. Now, the target is to participate in other talent shows in America, Britain, Germany and Canada. The preparations are being done regularly. They hope to give their best at these competitions also.

Apart from 6 year old Malkhamb player Suresh Potai, the team included Manoj Prasad, Ajmat Faridi, Sameer Shori, Shubham Potai, Rajesh Korram, Yuvraj Som, Phoolsingh Salam, Narendra Gota, Shyamlal Potai, Rajesh Salam and others.

The Abujhmad Malkhamb Academy has been established and operating since 2017 in the high school sports ground of Narayanpur. Poor tribal children from remote forest areas of Narayanpur district (mostly Abujhmad) take training in the Malkhamb game.

The trainees trained here are studying in various schools/ashrams of Narayanpur, who come to the part-time academy and take training, participate in state, national and international competitions.  The team got a total of 412 medals.
