Amity University Chhattisgarh Hosts Enthralling Two-Day Orientation Program 2024

RAIPUR,CG: Amity University Chhattisgarh, Raipur, proudly organized a two-day Orientation Program 2024, warmly welcoming new students to its dynamic academic community. As part of the university's cherished tradition, the event commenced with a Havan ceremony, where all new students and the entire campus community participated, fostering a spirit of unity and positive energy.

Held on August 06 and 07, 2024, the Orientation Program aimed to familiarize the incoming batch with the university's core values, vibrant culture, and the myriad opportunities that await them. The program featured engaging sessions led by esteemed faculty members, industry experts, and accomplished alumni, setting the stage for an enriching educational journey.

The event's primary objective was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the academic, extracurricular, and support services available at Amity University Chhattisgarh, ensuring a seamless transition into university life. The informative sessions covered various aspects of student life, emphasizing the importance of holistic development.

In his virtual address, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, Chancellor of Amity University Chhattisgarh, underscored the significance of the 'BHAAG' principles - Behavior, Hard work, Ambition, Attitude, and Goal - as essential elements for success. He highlighted the importance of cultivating skills, values, and sanskar (cultural ethos) in students, while promoting the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ("the world is one family"). Dr. Selvamurthy emphasized the need for holistic development and the pivotal role of perception in achieving success. Reflecting on India's growing stature as a ‘Vishwa Guru’ (world teacher), he echoed the inspirational words of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, "Dreams are not those which come while we are sleeping, but dreams are those when you don't sleep before fulfilling them."

Lt. Gen. Ashok Jindal, the Executive Director and CEO of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur, graced the orientation program as a special guest. In his address, he stressed the importance of adaptability and resilience in a rapidly changing world, urging students to keep their minds open and stay updated. Lt. Gen. Jindal encouraged the students to think outside the box and envision the broad spectrum of global opportunities. He advised the new students to choose their friends wisely, noting, "You can choose your friends... not your neighbors." He also emphasized the importance of maintaining both physical and mental health for building a better future.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Piyush Kant Pandey highlighted Amity University's commitment to nurturing over 200,000 students from Pre-nursery to Ph.D. levels. The university offers more than 400 programs in 60+ diverse disciplines across 14 universities and 25 schools, including 10 international campuses in London, Singapore, Dubai, New York, Mauritius, Amsterdam, China, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, and Romania. Professor Pandey stressed the importance of clear vision and passion, stating that determination and discipline are key to achieving success. He cited the inspiring stories of Dhirubhai Ambani, founder of Reliance Group, and Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, founder of Amity Education Group, as examples of great success achieved through these principles. Additionally, Dr. Pandey noted that this year, Chhattisgarh is adopting the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, offering students enhanced learning opportunities and a more flexible education framework.

During a series of technical sessions, professors and officers-in-charge showcased the diverse functions of their respective units. The presentations covered a wide range of topics, including an introduction to the university, student welfare initiatives, the mentor-mentee program, anti-ragging policies, the Corporate Resource Centre (Placements Cell), Amizone (the university's online portal), scholarships, transportation, security measures, hostel facilities, the Proctorial Board, examination procedures, internationalization efforts, and the National Service Scheme. These sessions provided valuable insights into the comprehensive support and opportunities available to students at the university.

Professor (Dr.) Sumita Dave, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies, delivered the welcome address. The Dean of Students' Welfare department organized a Special Talent Hunt event, showcasing the diverse skills and talents of the students. The event provided a platform for students to display their unique abilities in various categories, including music, dance, drama, and more. All the Deans, Directors, Heads of Institutions, Heads of Departments, faculty and staff members, new students, and parents attended the entire orientation program. Professor (Dr.) Roshan Mathew, Dean of Academics, proposed the vote of thanks, concluding the event on a high note.

The two-day Orientation Program 2024 at Amity University Chhattisgarh successfully set the tone for a promising and transformative academic journey for the new students, reinforcing the university's dedication to excellence, innovation, and holistic development.
