MAHASAMUND,CG: Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka visited the archaeological and historical city of Sirpur in Mahasamund district on Friday. During his visit, he explored the famous and ancient Lakshman Temple, a centrally protected monument constructed in the 6th century. The Governor was captivated by the temple's grandeur and unique construction style, which is notably built of red bricks.
In addition to the Lakshman Temple, Deka also visited Tivardev Vihar and Surang Tila. During the tour, officials from the Archaeological Department provided detailed insights into the history and architectural significance of these ancient structures. The Governor expressed his appreciation for the preservation of the temples in the visitor’s register and suggested that special attention be given to their beautification.
As part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, Governor Deka planted a native mango sapling within the Lakshman Temple complex. The event was attended by officials from the Mahasamund District Administration, as well as representatives from the Forest and Archaeology Departments.
