RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao visited the United Nations headquarters in New York as part of his study tour in the United States.
During his visit, he toured key areas of the UN, including the General Assembly and Security Council rooms, gaining insights into the organization’s functioning. He was accompanied by Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary of the Public Works Department.
The visit was arranged through an invitation from Anand Pandey, Chief Finance Officer at the UN, who hails from Belsari in Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh. Expressing pride, Sao remarked, “It is a matter of immense honour for Chhattisgarh that a son of Belsari is serving in such a prestigious role at the United Nations.”
Later, he attended a special event organized in his honour by the Indian diaspora at Royal Albert Palace in New Jersey. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted Chhattisgarh's rich culture, tourism potential, mythological heritage, natural resources, and the simplicity of its people. He also discussed the state’s development and invited expatriate Indians to visit Chhattisgarh to experience its natural beauty.
Sao presented a unique artwork of Lord Shri Ram, crafted from plum, to the event’s organizers, symbolizing the cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh. He praised the contributions of Indians abroad, noting their role in enhancing India’s global standing. He further emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is progressing toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy.
