BILASPUR, CG (INDIA): A fake Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was caught red-handed extorting money from passengers aboard the Sarnath Express traveling from Durg to Chhapra. After verification by the actual TTE staff, the impostor was arrested and handed over to the Pendraroad Government Railway Police (GRP). A criminal case was registered against him, and following court proceedings, he was sent to jail.
The incident came to light when passengers in coaches M-1, M-2, S-1, and S-2 noticed a suspicious individual conducting ticket checks. Alerted by the passengers, a legitimate TTE intervened. Initially, the man’s black coat led staff to believe he might be a fellow TTE, but his drunken state and erratic behavior raised suspicions.
Upon investigation, the man was identified as Hamid Hussain (36), a resident of Jalebi Chowk, Bhilai Power House. It was discovered that he was impersonating a TTE and illegally collecting money from passengers.
After the train departed from Uslapur station, the TTE staff coordinated with the escorting teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and GRP. Officers Shamlesh Yadav (RPF), Keshav Dhritlahre, and Mukesh Dhurve (GRP) apprehended Hussain and handed him over to Pendrarod GRP. Based on the complaint lodged by TTE Ravi Kumar Sharma, a crime was registered, and the case was forwarded to Bilaspur GRP.
Following a court hearing, the accused was ordered to be sent to jail.
