Raipur/Balrampur,CG: In a sensational incident at Rajpur area of Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, a youth sacrificed his four-year-old son due to superstition. He has been arrested.

The police said 35-year old Kamlesh Nageshia, resident of village Mahuadih under Shankargarh police station, lived with his wife Indramani and two children. The young man was behaving strangely for the last few days. The family members were getting the exorcism done by Baiga. He had a fight with his mother Sukhmani at 10 pm on Saturday.

His wife Indramani and brother Nilesh Nagesia had intervened and calmed down the matter. His mother had gone to the neighbours house. He later on said to his wife that he was hearing a voice in his ears that he would worship someone. He was roaming around the house with a knife.

Indramani had gone to sleep in the room with her two children. She woke up around 12 o’clock in the night. She found her four-year-old son Avinash Nagesia was not in bed.  She came out and saw her husband sitting in the verandah of the house. She asked about the whereabouts of her son, he said that he had taken his son to the field and sacrificed him.

Hearing his words she called the neighbours. As she raised the alarm, the accused had fled from the house. He was caught by police after laying siege to the village. During interrogation, the accused admitted to sacrificing his own son.

Police station in-charge Jitendra Soni said that due to superstition, the young man killed his son by slitting his throat. Before sacrificing his son, he had killed a chicken. He had then brought son’s body and a dead chicken at three in the morning and kept it inside the house.

The body was handed over to the family by the police after the post-mortem (PM).
