Chhattisgarh fixes variable DA for workers

RAIPUR: The Labor Department, Government of Chhattisgarh has fixed variable dearness allowance for workers working in various scheduled employments from April 01, 2024.

The industrial index obtained from the Labor Bureau, Shimla, showed an average increase of 14 points between July 2023 and December 2023. According to which, the variable dearness allowance of workers working in 45 scheduled employments was increased by Rs 280 per month at the rate of Rs 20 per point.

Officials of the Labor Department said that due to an average increase of 56 points in the index obtained from the Labor Bureau, Shimla, the variable dearness allowance was increased by Rs 5 per point to Rs 280 per month for the workers employed in agricultural employment.

Similarly, based on the average increase in the consumer price index, the variable dearness allowance for the workers employed in the incense stick industry was fixed at Rs 7.08 per thousand in the manufacture of agarbattis.

He stated that under the Minimum Wage Act 1948, Chhattisgarh Government Labor Department determines the dearness allowance for the workers working in 45 scheduled employments, agricultural employment and agarbatti employment twice a year on the basis of Consumer Price Index released by Labor Bureau Shimla, on April 1st and on October 01.

According to the order issued, the minimum wage rates have been fixed for workers from April 01 to September 30, 2024. The salary per month has been fixed at Rs 10,900 for unskilled 'A' labor class, Rs 10,640 for 'B' class and Rs 10,380 for 'C' class. The salary for semi-skilled 'A' class has been fixed at Rs 11,550, for 'B' class it has been fixed at Rs 11,290 and for 'C' class it has been fixed at Rs 11,030.

The salary for skilled 'A' category has been fixed at Rs 12,330, for 'B' it has been fixed at Rs 12,070 and for 'C' it has been fixed at Rs 11,810. Similarly, the salary for highly skilled 'A' class has been Rs 13,110, for 'B' class it has been Rs 12,850 and for 'C' class it has been Rs 12,590.
