RAIPUR,CG: Raipur District Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh on Thursday asked district officials to identify the possible places of flood in all the tehsils and municipal corporations of the district.
He was holding a review meeting of preparations for flood protection in the district.
The monsoon is likely to arrive within a few days. Keep divers deployed in villages and river banks. Also, train some groups of youth in the villages so that they can help in facing disasters like floods, he said.
All SDMs should visit the tehsils themselves along with their revenue officials and after discussing with the villagers, make an action plan for disaster relief, he added.
Dr. Singh said that such places should be identified as safe places for flood affected people and necessary facilities should be provided.
He said that cattle are most affected by floods. Keep a safe place for them too. Also, arrange for medicines to protect animals from infectious diseases. The food department should ensure availability of ration in fair price shops and also ensure that food items like gram, rice, flour, jaggery, pulses, and salt are available in sufficient quantity in the market. Teams should also be formed to prepare packets of possible flood relief materials.
Dr. Singh said that PHE should run a special campaign for cleaning the tank in the district and after cleaning the tank, mention the date of cleaning on it. For the provision of pure drinking water in flood affected villages, arrangements related to transportation should be made in advance. Adequate number of chlorine tablets should be arranged to ensure the quality and purity of drinking water. And training on the use of these tablets in flood affected panchayats should be ensured on time through PHE. The medical department should make advance arrangements for medicines and test kits for epidemics like diarrhea, malaria, jaundice that spread during the rainy season.
Singh said that before the flood, the main roads of the district, especially the roads connecting the blocks, tehsils and villages from the district headquarters, should be repaired.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra said that there is a possibility of flood situation in the lower settlements and some special places of the Corporation. Arrangements for cleanliness should be made at these places. So that there is no accumulation of water. Also, the health department should alert its team. He said that all the major drains of the city are being cleaned rapidly, so that the drainage system remains in good condition and there is no accumulation of water during the rains.
