RAIPUR,CG: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has asked the officials to ensure availability of adequate quantity of fertilizer and seeds in the societies in view of the upcoming Kharif season.
He has asked the officials of the Agriculture and Cooperative Department to continuously monitor the situation of storage and lifting of standard level fertilizers and seeds.
He has asked to make arrangements through societies to supply quality fertilizers and seeds to the farmers on the basis of their demand by June 15.
The Chief Minister has said that adequate arrangements should be made in advance so that farmers do not have to face any kind of problem in purchasing fertilizers and seeds.
He called for stern action against those who are negligent in storing and distributing fertilizers and seeds in the societies.
He said on the basis of experience of farming that in the Kharif season, D.A.P. Fertilizer is in high demand. Special monitoring be done on the demand and supply of fertilizers.
He also said that a special campaign for testing the quality of fertilizers and seeds should be conducted through sampling and laboratory. He has asked the officials of the Agriculture Department to monitor the demand, storage, lifting and quality of fertilizers and seeds in their respective areas.
Agriculture Production Commissioner intimated that that against the demand of 13.68 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers in the state for Kharif season 2024-25, availability of 9.13 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers has been ensured, which is 67 percent of the demand. Continuous distribution of fertilizers and seeds is going on from the societies to the farmers. The process of investigation and taking samples is being ensured for the quality of fertilizers and seeds. For quality control of chemical fertilizers and bio-fertilizers, 1,067 samples have been taken, which are being tested in the quality control laboratory.
Seeds of various Kharif crops are available in sufficient quantity in the societies. In the Kharif season 2024-25, against the demand of 5,59,203 quintals of seeds, 6,39,004 quintals of seeds are available, which is 114 percent of the demand. Farmers are continuously collecting seeds from the societies. Till now, farmers have raised 03.75 thousand quintals of seeds, which is 67 percent of the demand for seeds.
