RAIPUR,CG: Doctors and CRPF battalion soldiers who donated blood were honored at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur to mark the World Blood Donor Day.
Program coordinator Dr. Arvind Neral and Medical Superintendent of Ambedkar Hospital Dr. S. B. S. Netam said the doctors, medical students and CRPF battalion soldiers who donated blood, the most number of times were honored with citations and mementos.
Dr. Arvind Neral, Head of the Pathology Department of the Medical College, who has donated blood 124 times, said that blood donation is a very sacred act. Any healthy adult man can donate blood once in three months and women can donate blood once in four months. Anyone can become a voluntary regular blood donor by donating blood from time to time. For this, age should not be 18 to 65 years, haemoglobin should be more than 12.5 grams and body weight should not be less than 45 kg.
Dr. Neral said that human blood can neither be made in any factory, nor grown in fields, nor obtained from animals, the only alternative to human blood is human blood.
Every healthy person should donate blood for the needy people. He also gave information about autologous blood transfusion. Among the brave soldiers of CRPF battalion Raipur CG sector, Umesh Kumar, Mulagapaka Sai, Dharmendra Kumar, Naushad Ali, Dilip Mascole, Ravindra Dasrat, Roopjyoti Deka, Pankaj Pegu, Manoj Kumar and Surendra Didel donated blood. They were honored with a citation and a memento.
Dr. Aviral Mishra of Model Blood Bank Centre administered the oath to the doctors, medical students and other people present at the program to donate blood regularly.
Dr. Arvind Neral, Dr. Vijay Kapse, Dr. Sudit Pal, Dr. Aviral Mishra, Dr. Pushkar Chaudhary, Dr. Akash Lalwani, Dr. Kushal Chakraborty, Dr. Prankur Pandey, Dr. Devpriya Rath, Dr. Piyush Bhargava, Dr. Prem Chaudhary, Dr. Shilpa Bhargava and Dr. Reeti Sharma. All of them are blood donors who have donated blood more than 20 times.
