CG NEWS: Balodabazar administration scans social media

RAIPUR,CG: The district administration and police are monitoring the social media to maintain peace in Balodabazar district of Chhattisgarh.

The district level social media monitoring committee has so far identified 55 suspicious cases (IDs of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and X) and sent them to Sub-divisional Officer (Police) (SDOP) through Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM).

With the help of cyber police and police station in-charge, crime has been registered against 3 persons. Along with it, action has been initiate against four other persons on Thursday.

Sub-division includes 49 cases in Balodabazar, 5 in Kasdol and one case in Simga. Cyber Cell is continuously contacting Google, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp companies to identify suspicious IDs.

District Collector Deepak Soni, while appealing to the residents of the district, has asked any person to avoid posting inflammatory content on social media. If any person’s post is inflammatory or disturbs social harmony, then strict action will definitely be taken.

It is noteworthy that keeping in mind the impact of social media in the context of law and order, a district level social media monitoring committee was formed to monitor the activities going on in the social media related to the district. It has been given mandate to take prompt action on the articles related to negative activities. The negative articles and facts in social media are being monitored 24 hours. If illegal and objectionable posts, comments are found, the committee is sending the information daily to the concerned sub-divisional magistrate and the concerned sub-divisional officer police for immediate action.
