CG NEWS: Workshop deals on “Criminal Law and Act”

BEMETARA,CG: Principal Judge, District and Sessions Court Bemetara Brijendra Kumar Shastri on Monday said law is required to maintain law and order and to solve social problems. The main objective of the workshop was to understand the changes in criminal law and discuss their effectiveness.

He was addressing a one-day workshop on the changes in criminal law acts under “Criminal Law and Act” organized in the auditorium of Government PG College, Bemetara.

Praneesh Choubey, President District Advocates Association Bemetara, District Panchayat CEO Tekchand Agarwal, officials of Collectorate Office, Family Court were present.

Shastri highlighted the importance of the recent amendments made in the criminal justice system. In this, important amendments made in the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and Evidence Act were discussed in depth. Experts discussed the practical aspects of these changes and their potential impacts.

Collector Sharma said that the new amendments will increase transparency and efficiency in the justice system.

Superintendent of Police Ramakrishna Sahu said the present law was made before independence, by the British. Giving information, he said that among the three new criminal laws, the Indian Penal Code 1860. The Indian Judicial Code 2023 has been notified in place. Students participating in the workshop also presented their doubts and views regarding the amendments.

Judge Neelima Singh Baghel, Principal Judge Family Court, Bemetara provided information about section 144 of the Indian Civil Protection Code Act, maintenance of wife, children and parents and new changes in the Indian Evidence Act.

Information about the new sections related to the Indian Judicial Code 2023 was given by Devendra Kumar District and Sessions Judge. Umesh Kumar Upadhyay Chief Judicial Magistrate spoke on the new changes made in the Indian Civil Defense Code 2023.
