RAIPUR,CG: A large-scale campaign, spearheaded by Tribal Welfare Minister Ram Vichar Netam, has been launched on Friday across Chhattisgarh. It will conclude on September 10. The initiative aims to ensure that state and central government schemes reach Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) populations, including Baiga, Pahadi Korwa, Kamar, Abujhmadia, and Birhor communities.
The campaign, known as the Prime Minister's Tribal Justice Mega Campaign (PM Janman), will be implemented in 18 districts across the state. The Department of Primitive Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development is organizing a series of mega events and an extensive IEC campaign in these districts throughout September. In the first week of September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually participate in a program to engage with families from these special backward tribal communities.
PM Janman, launched by Prime Minister Modi on Tribal Pride Day, November 15, 2023, aims to foster justice and development for these vulnerable groups. Minister Ram Vichar Netam revealed that the Prime Minister would also take part in a national mega event in Jharkhand, which will feature a two-way communication channel involving all districts with Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) populations. A specific district in Chhattisgarh will be selected for a state-level mega event.
In addition to the central event, district-level programs will be organized in all PM Janman districts, with arrangements for seamless connectivity to the Prime Minister's address. Local MLAs and other representatives will attend these programs, which will also feature cultural events.
From August 23 to September 10, beneficiary saturation camps will be held across all PVTG-inhabited districts. These camps will provide essential services such as Aadhaar cards, Jan Dhan accounts, Ayushman cards, forest rights certificates, ration cards, caste certificates, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, Kisan Credit Cards, sickle cell testing, and basic health services. The goal is to achieve 100% saturation of these immediate needs across all PVTG populations.
The campaign, a significant effort by the Government of India, aims for the rapid development of the five specially vulnerable tribal groups.
