Hospitals on high alert for Swine Flu Outbreak

RAIPUR,CG: The Health and Family Department, Government of Chhattisgarh has urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent and control the spread of swine flu and other seasonal diseases. Hospitals across the state have been put on high alert to ensure sufficient preparedness for any potential outbreak.

To assist the public, the Health Department has established 24/7 helpline numbers in Bilaspur district. These lines are available for anyone seeking information or guidance regarding swine flu. Immediate assistance can be obtained by contacting these numbers if there is even a slight suspicion of swine flu symptoms.

Dr. Prabhat Srivastava, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bilaspur, has instructed all health centre in-charges to stay on high alert. He emphasized the importance of early testing and treatment, urging individuals to visit the nearest health centre if they experience any symptoms associated with swine flu. Given the season's susceptibility to the spread of swine flu and other respiratory illnesses, Dr. Srivastava highlighted the virus's ability to spread rapidly through the air.

Dr. Srivastava also provided information on swine flu symptoms, which are similar to those of the common cold and fever. The virus primarily affects the respiratory system and can severely damage the lungs, leading to potential respiratory failure. He advised the public to take precautions such as covering the mouth with a handkerchief or mask when talking to someone with a cold or cough, washing hands frequently, and wearing masks in crowded places.

Additional recommendations include maintaining a distance of at least one meter from individuals with cold symptoms, covering the mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing, eating a nutritious diet, getting adequate rest, and reducing stress. The public is also advised to keep their surroundings clean by regularly disinfecting surfaces. Those exhibiting any symptoms are strongly encouraged to seek medical advice immediately.
