RAIPUR,CG: Agricultural engineers’from across the country will gather for a two-day national conference in Raipur on August 29 and 30, 2024. The 36th National Conference, focused on ‘The Contribution of Agricultural Engineers in Improving Rural Economy for Sustainable Development’, will be held at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. A national seminar will also accompany the conference.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh will inaugurate the event on August 29 at 10:45 am, with Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam presiding over the function. The Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Dr. Girish Chandel, Chairman of the Central Ground Water Board, Dr. Sunil K. Ambst, and Dr. Nutan K. Das, Vice President of the Institution of Engineers (India), will attend as special guests.

The national conference is being organized under the joint aegis of the Institution of Engineers (India) Chhattisgarh State Centre, Raipur, Swami Vivekananda College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, and Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. Discussions will cover crucial topics such as the conservation and management of engineering inputs, farm machinery, agro-processing, non-conventional energy sources, soil and water conservation, and the application of modern technologies like mechanization in agriculture, drones, remote sensing, geographical information systems, artificial intelligence, robotics, and IoT.

Organizing Secretary Dr. Vinay Kumar Pandey mentioned that the event will feature leading scientists, entrepreneurs, researchers, and progressive farmers from across the country who will discuss strategies to increase farmers' income. Notable participants include former IIT Kharagpur professor Dr. B.C. Mal, Vice Chancellor of Parbhani University Dr. Indramani, Vice Chancellor of Meerut University Dr. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Vaishali Bihar Dr. Gaud, Secretary and Director General of the Institution of Engineers (India) Kolkata Dr. Sayali, Assistant Director General Dr. A.K. Singh, Dr. Ramana Rao from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, Director of NIT Raipur Dr. Mehta, Director of Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering Bhopal, and other renowned experts from across the country.
