RAIPUR,CG: The weather in the state has taken a sudden turn, with heavy rainfall expected in several districts over the next two days. The Meteorological Department has forecasted moderate rainfall across most districts, with the possibility of thunderstorms and heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
For the past week, rainfall activity had weakened across the state, including in the capital, Raipur, leading to a rise in temperatures. On Wednesday, Raipur recorded a day temperature of over 34 degrees Celsius, with Dongargarh being the hottest district at 34.3 degrees Celsius.
Since the onset of the monsoon on June 1, 2024, the state has recorded an average rainfall of 892.1 mm. As of the morning of August 28, 2024, Bijapur district has recorded the highest average rainfall in the state at 1862.9 mm, while Surguja district has recorded the lowest at 497.8 mm.
According to data from the state-level flood control room, from June 1 to now, Surajpur district recorded an average rainfall of 909.1 mm, Balrampur 1312.8 mm, Jashpur 767.5 mm, Korea 927.2 mm, and Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur 904.9 mm. The state continues to monitor the situation closely, with authorities prepared for any potential flooding or related impacts.
