RAIPUR,CG: Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), North Central Chhattisgarh Region (NCCR), Raipur celebrated National Sports Day at Government Middle School, Fundahar, Raipur recently to commemorate Major Dhyanchand, an eminent Indian hockey player. In a vibrant display of athletic spirit and community engagement, a series of engaging events were organized in attendance with the students and teachers of the school and officers and officials from CGWB. Regional Director of CGWB Raipur Dr Prabir K Naik inaugurated the programme.
Principal of Government Middle School Fundahar Archana Satbeve was present as a special invitee.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Naik emphasized the importance of sports in promoting health, wellbeing and playing a crucial role in developing discipline, teamwork and perseverance among the youth. Scientist Siddhant Sahu delivered a lecture on water conservation to the students and their role in the society. R R Naik delivered a lecture on yoga/meditation and healthy food for a disease free future for the students.
He emphasized that without good health we cannot have a fruitful life. A pledge was taken among the students for effective utilization and sustainable management of Ground Water resources. An inter - school sports competition was held, where students showcased their athletic talent across various events like running race, musical chair competition and traditional games like Gedi race and Fugri event etc.
Adding a meaningful dimension to the day, a plantation drive was carried out within the school premises under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign, which aims to promote environmental consciousness through tree planting as a tribute to mothers. Each student was given the opportunity to plant a sapling, symbolizing their commitment to environmental sustainability. The day’s activities concluded with an award ceremony where winners of the different sports competitions were applauded for their achievements. The celebration at the school set a commendable example of how educational institutions can integrate sports and environmental initiatives, fostering a well - rounded approach to student development. The enthusiasm and participation from the students underscored the event's success and its positive impact on the school and its environment. The Principal of the Government Middle School requested Regional Director Dr Naik to install a Roof Top Rain Water Harvesting (RTRWH) structure which will help to recharge the already declining water table in Raipur City.
