Raipur District-Wide Cleanliness Campaign

RAIPUR,CG: As part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative, a district-wide cleanliness campaign will be launched to ensure the region's cleanliness. In a meeting held at the Collectorate meeting room, District Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh discussed the implementation of the campaign with district officials and instructed the formation of a committee to oversee the efforts.

Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of achieving a clean district through labour contribution, public participation, and the involvement of Safai Mitras (sanitation workers). He stressed that public cooperation is essential for cleaning dirty areas, particularly roadsides and other public spaces. After clearing these areas, trees should be planted, and efforts should be made to ensure their protection.

He also highlighted the importance of the health and welfare of Safai Mitras. He instructed officials to issue health cards to the sanitation workers and conduct health screenings, as well as provide them with the benefits of relevant government schemes.

The Collector called for maximum citizen participation in the cleanliness drive and public awareness campaigns. He noted that labour contribution should be a key component in ensuring the cleanliness of the entire district. As part of the Safai Mitra Safety Camp, health checks and welfare camps will be organized for sanitation workers.

During the meeting, a presentation was given to the officials on how to make both cities and villages cleaner under the "Swachhata Hi Seva" initiative. Suggestions included organizing clean-up campaigns as part of cultural festivals, creating art from waste, introducing innovative clean street projects, and executing massive cleaning campaigns.
