RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka on Friday visited the old age home run by the Social Welfare Department in Mana Camp, interacting with the elderly residents and inquiring about their well-being.
He Deka spoke to the residents, acknowledging the challenges faced by senior citizens due to the modern social structure, where children live away for employment, leaving many elders alone. He encouraged them to stay positive, reminding them that the government and society are there to support them.
He distributed blankets, fruits, and sweets among the elderly. He also spoke with elderly women from displaced families, listening to their concerns and instructing officials to take necessary action.
Later, Governor Deka visited the SOS Girls Home, where he met girls residing there and distributed blankets, sweets, and fruits. He encouraged the girls, who are orphans or from single-parent families, to remain courageous and ambitious, emphasizing that they are not alone, as society and the government stand with them.
He shared inspiring stories of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and Nelson Mandela, urging the girls to take inspiration from their lives and pursue their dreams with determination. He also reviewed the facilities at the home, with Director Ritu Singh informing him that 110 children currently reside there. The Governor asked for all necessary facilities be provided for the children.
