Promise for Greener Energy: Shift from thermal

RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the state is progressing rapidly in the fields of solar, hydraulic and biogas. The total electricity consumption of the state is 5500 MW, of which currently 15% is from renewable energy. A target has been set to take this share to 45% in the coming time.

He was interacting with the media while participating in the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo, at Gandhi Nagar highlighting the state’s energy policy and future plans.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a target of producing 500 MW of renewable energy by 2030, in which Chhattisgarh will also have an important contribution.

“Our country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resolved that 500 MW of renewable energy should be produced in this country by 2030 and our Chhattisgarh will also contribute a lot in this field. We are doing good work in the sector of solar, hydro, biogas. Currently, the total consumption of our state is 5500 MW, out of which about 15% is based on renewable energy, which we are going to increase to 45% in the future. In this way, our Chhattisgarh will also contribute to the resolution of the Prime Minister,” he said.

He said on further progress, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had formed the state. The BJP ruled the state for 15 years and after a gap of five years had again returned to power.

“We had pledged to the people that we had formed the state and we will build it also. So as per the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantees are working towards making the state a developed one,” he added.

Chhattisgarh is known as a power hub due to the existence of coal based power plants both in public sector and private sector power producers.
