Sao pulls officials over lack of ward inspections

RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: The Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister, Arun Sao, holding a review meeting with senior officials regarding the work of all Nagar Panchayats across the state pulled the officials for not carrying out ward inspections.

The meeting, held at New Circuit House, focused on the development of emerging cities and the future needs of the state. He emphasized the importance of respectful behaviour towards citizens and addressing their concerns promptly. Urban Administration Secretary Dr. Basavaraju S. and Director Kundan Kumar were also present.

Sao expressed displeasure at officials who failed to regularly inspect cleanliness and construction projects in the wards. He asked all officers to strictly follow government directives. He also directed the chief municipal officers to develop action plans for the growth of towns, focusing on works that improve people's lives.

He commended Nagar Panchayats performing well and encouraged others to adopt their successful methods.

Sao stressed that negligence and substandard work in city development would not be tolerated, promising strict action against those responsible. He called for greater accountability and respect for elected representatives, advising officials to consider their input seriously for the city's betterment.

Minister asked engineers in Nagar Panchayats and regional offices to actively oversee projects, with executive engineers required to visit Nagar Panchayats three days a week for inspections and quality checks.

He reviewed pending issues such as employee salaries and electricity bill payments in Nagar Panchayats, directing officials to prioritize these payments using revenue collections. He also mandated that all purchases be made through the GeM portal, strictly following guidelines.

Dr. Basavaraju S. asked officials to begin all approved works immediately and expedite ongoing projects. He noted that Rs 580 crore had been allocated to Nagar Panchayats in the last two months for development. He also called for special drives to recover property taxes and emphasized the welfare of Swachhata Didis, urging officials to provide them with necessary resources.
