RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Eklavya Adarsh Residential School National Games will be held in Raipur city from December 14 to 20. A total of 22 sports events including 15 singles and doubles and 7 group sports will be held.
Principal Secretary of Tribal Development Department, Government of Chhattisgarh Sonmani Borah held a meeting of the Co-ordination Committee at the Meeting Hall of Tribal Research and Training Institute Nava Raipur, Atal Nagar on Wednesday.
Joint Commissioner of the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) B C Ratori, Assistant Commissioner Gaurav Singh, TRI In-charge Director Sanjay Gaur, officials from sports department and representatives of different sports organizations were present in the meeting.
Principal Secretary Sonmani Borah said that more than 6,000 players of Eklavya Vidyalaya, being run in 25 states of the country, would participate in the Sports Meet.
He has given instructions to start preliminary preparations for organizing the sports meet. In the meeting, he gave necessary instructions regarding the accommodation, food and transportation of the players and the officials accompanying them, as well as other arrangements including sports venues, security arrangements, electricity and water.
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and NESTS are running schools in the state with the aim of providing quality education to the Scheduled Tribe students and bringing them at par with the general caste students and awakening the spirit of competition among them.
At present, 75 Eklavya Model Residential Schools including 10 girls and six boys are being run in the state.
