RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched seven residential projects under the ‘Atal Vihar Yojana’ at the Chief Minister's Residence Office, aligning with the vision of ‘Housing for All’.
The Chief Minister stated, “As our government completes its first year, we are launching the Atal Vihar Yojana to provide affordable housing to the needy, especially in urban areas”.
Under these projects, housing for EWS (Economically Weaker Sections), LIG (Low Income Group), and MIG (Middle Income Group) will be developed across seven locations: Bhurkoni-Raipur, Patharra-Rajim, Khartuli-Dhamtari, Sihad-Dhamtari, Pulgaon-Durg, Gurur-Balod, and Kokdapara-Bijapur.
The projects, with an estimated cost of ₹300 crore, will deliver 1,650 houses—1,452 for EWS and LIG categories and 200 for MIG. Beneficiaries can register online for these homes via the official website (www.cghb.gov.in).
Sai highlighted that the state’s Atal Vihar Yojana draws inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, aiming to replace kutcha houses with affordable pucca homes for urban poor families. The Housing Board targets constructing and allocating 50,000 houses under the scheme.
He also noted that government land is being provided to the Housing Board at a token rate of ₹1 per square foot, and district collectors have been instructed to facilitate. The state government is extending grants of ₹80,000 for EWS and ₹40,000 for LIG housing to make these homes even more affordable.
Finance and Housing and Environment Minister O.P. Chaudhary emphasized the quality of construction under this scheme, stating that homes will be built not only in Raipur but also in remote areas like Bijapur. He assured that the scheme would soon expand to all districts.
Additionally, the Housing Board’s free-hold regularization initiative, launched in 2012, has been further enhanced. In a cabinet meeting on November 26, 2024, the government announced a 100% exemption in diversion fees and penalties for free-held buildings, benefiting approximately 80,000 Housing Board beneficiaries.
