BIJAPUR,CG,BHARAT: In a significant outreach effort, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Gundam village in Bijapur district, a region severely affected by Maoist activity. Setting up a chaupal under a Mahua tree, he engaged in an open dialogue with villagers, encouraging them to utilize various government schemes aimed at development and empowerment.
Amit Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating Maoist terrorism by March 31, 2026, crediting ongoing efforts for reducing Naxalism to a limited area.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, he assured the villagers of a peaceful and secure future, with multiple security camps already established in the Bastar region.
He urged the villagers to prioritize education by sending their children to school, highlighting its transformative potential in resolving societal challenges.
Shah also visited the village primary school, interacted with students, and encouraged regular attendance. Women were sensitized about the long-term benefits of education.
The Union Minister informed the villagers about welfare schemes such as free 35 kg rice and Mahtari Vandan Yojana, stressing the importance of availing these benefits. He reassured the community about the nearby security camp’s hospital facilities, advising them to seek free medical treatment without resorting to traditional practices like witchcraft.
Shah directed the district administration to organize a public convenience camp to provide essential documents like Aadhaar cards, ration cards, bank passbooks, and Ayushman cards. He emphasized the necessity of a bank passbook for accessing government schemes and promised that within a year, basic amenities such as roads, electricity, schools, hospitals, and drinking water would be made available in the village.
