RAIPUR: The treatment of Padma Vibhushan awardee and celebrated Pandwani artist, Mrs. Teejan Bai, has commenced at AIIMS under the direct initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. Recognized as a cultural icon of Chhattisgarh and India, Teejan Bai's health concerns prompted swift action from the state government.
Upon learning of her illness, Chief Minister Sai asked the Health Department to ensure top-tier medical care for Teejan Bai. Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal visited her to assess her condition and provided financial assistance of ₹5 lakh. Additionally, Minister Jaiswal instructed the Health Department to supply a motorized remote-control bed, a bed table, and a wheelchair for her use at home, all of which have now been delivered.
To ensure her comprehensive care, a dedicated medical officer and physiotherapist have been assigned to monitor Teejan Bai's health. A team of doctors conducts daily home visits and prepares medical reports to track her progress.
Teejan Bai, honoured with the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan, has brought international acclaim to Chhattisgarh through her mastery of the traditional Pandwani storytelling art form. She is widely regarded as a cultural ambassador of the state.
The Chief Minister continues to oversee her care and regularly seeks updates on her health. Health Minister Jaiswal has been entrusted with ensuring all necessary medical and logistical support for Teejan Bai.
The state government’s efforts underscore its commitment to honouring the contributions of Teejan Bai, whose legacy has brought pride to Chhattisgarh and India.
