RAIPUR/BILASPUR,(INDIA): The terrorist attack that occurred on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir has deeply shocked not just the nation but also the people of Chhattisgarh. The killing of 26 innocent tourists and the serious injuries sustained by 22 others has led to widespread grief and outrage across the state. Citizens, political parties, social organizations, and educational institutions from various districts came together to pay tribute to the deceased.
In Bilaspur, under the leadership of Bhaikhara Ekta Manch, a large number of people participated in a candle march, offering silent prayers for the victims. The attack was strongly condemned, and participants wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
At Nehru Chowk, the City and Rural District Congress Committees also organized a candle march. City President Vijay Pandey described the attack as "the climax of cowardice and barbarity," placing blame on the neighboring country for supporting such acts.
Meanwhile, BJP workers staged a protest at Shaheed Chowk by burning an effigy symbolizing terrorism. They called the incident "an attack on the unity of the nation" and urged the central government to take strict and immediate action.
During these protests, citizens and youth raised slogans against the terrorist organization TRF and Pakistan. They condemned the targeting of individuals based on religion or caste, calling it a crime against humanity, and demanded the destruction of terrorist bases across the border.
At Guru Ghasidas Central University, a tribute meeting was held at the administrative building in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal. Teachers, staff, and students observed a two-minute silence in honor of the victims. Prof. Chakrawal described the attack as a "direct assault on the integrity of the nation" and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to opposing terrorism in all forms.
