Summer heat intensifies across Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR/BILASPUR,CG(INDIA): The summer heat has intensified across Chhattisgarh, with the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for the risk of heat stroke in several districts of Central and North Chhattisgarh. According to the department, there is no significant change expected in the daytime temperatures for the next three days.

Bilaspur recorded the highest temperature in the state over the past 24 hours, with the mercury reaching 43.8 degrees Celsius. Raipur followed closely, where the temperature also crossed 43 degrees. Within Raipur, the Mana Airport area emerged as the hottest part of the city.

The day temperature in Raipur is expected to hover around 44 degrees Celsius on Thursday, while the night temperature may be around 28 degrees. On Wednesday, Raipur recorded a daytime temperature of 43.2 degrees, which is 2.8 degrees above the seasonal average. The night temperature stood at 27.8 degrees, which is 2.3 degrees higher than normal.

In the Surguja division, daytime temperatures have also crossed the 40-degree mark, leading to a possibility of heat stroke in one or two districts. In Ambikapur, the temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 40.6 degrees, 2.5 degrees above the usual level. The minimum temperature there was 20.7 degrees.

Meanwhile, the districts in Bastar division are experiencing relatively milder weather. Jagdalpur recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees and a minimum of 24 degrees. However, the Meteorological Department has indicated that a slight rise in temperature is likely in the region starting from Thursday.

Residents across the state are advised to take precautions to avoid the effects of heat and remain hydrated, especially during the peak afternoon hours.
