DONGARGARH,CG (INDIA): A serious accident occurred at the Dongargarh ropeway on Friday afternoon, injuring six people, including senior BJP leaders. The incident took place while the group was returning after visiting the revered Maa Bamleshwari temple.
Around 1:30 PM, a technical fault led to the sudden detachment of a ropeway cable, causing one of the cabins to fall. Among those injured was former Home Minister and current President of the Forest Development Corporation, Ramsevak Paikra. He was accompanied by BJP State General Secretary Bharat Verma, senior BJP leader from Bhilai Daya Singh, and the Chairman of the Bamleshwari Temple Committee.
Bharat Verma reportedly sustained serious injuries, with a suspected fracture in his hand. Ramsevak Paikra was also hurt and rushed for medical treatment. Daya Singh’s condition was critical enough to warrant immediate admission to Rajnandgaon Hospital.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the technical failure that led to the mishap. The incident has raised concerns about the safety measures in place at the ropeway system, which is a major mode of transportation for devotees visiting the temple. Earlier, also a similar accident had occurred where the rope way service was shut down.
