Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: Scientists Take Advanced Agricultural Techniques to Villages

Direct Dialogue with Farmers in Chhattisgarh, Scientists Share Modern Farming Solutions

RAIPUR, CG (INDIA): Taking a significant step towards making agriculture self-reliant and modern, under the "Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan", a team of expert scientists from ICAR–National Institute of Biotic Stress Management (NIBSM), Raipur, conducted an extensive field visit across seven districts of Chhattisgarh—Raipur, Durg, Dhamtari, Balodabazar, Bemetara, Mahasamund, and Gariaband.

Under the guidance of the institute’s Director, Dr. P. K. Rai, the objective of this outreach was to bring advanced and sustainable agricultural technologies to the farmers, promote climate-resilient crops, and strengthen the scientific approach to farming at the grassroots level.

The team of scientists included Dr. R. K. Murali Bhaskaran, Dr. K. C. Sharma, Dr. S. K. Jain (Principal Scientists), Dr. (Mrs.) Lata Jain, Dr. Shridhar J. (Senior Scientists), Dr. Lalit Laxman Kharbikar, Dr. Yogesh Yele, Dr. Shravani Sanyal, Dr. Priyanka Meena, and Dr. Niranjan Prasad H. P.

The scientists reached the fields and engaged with farmers through chaupals (community meetings), demonstrations, and awareness camps. Key topics included the promotion of climate-resilient crops, adoption of micro-irrigation systems, use of high-yielding and disease-resistant seeds, methods of natural and organic farming, information on government schemes and subsidies, and collective empowerment through Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).

Farmers participated enthusiastically in these programs, sharing their experiences and ground-level challenges. Scientists provided immediate technical guidance and distributed useful agricultural literature in the local language.

During the campaign, the scientists delivered a clear message that the foundation of a “Developed India” rests on “Developed Agriculture.” This initiative bridged the gap between agricultural research and its ground-level implementation, ensuring long-term benefits for the farming community.

This coordinated effort by the institute has empowered the rural agricultural community with awareness and self-reliance, marking a significant step toward the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
