Amarnath Yatra set to begin tomorrow amid tight security

NEW DELHI (INDIA): The annual 38-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will formally commence tomorrow from twin routes of Pahalgam in South Kashmir and Baltal in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district amid tight security. The Holy Cave is known for the ice stalagmite that forms within, resembling a Shivlinga. The Cave is situated at an altitude of 12, 756 feet in the Himalayas in the Kashmir region.

Around 299 vehicles carrying over 2300 pilgrims towards the Baltal route and over 3000 Yatris towards Pahalgam route reached safely in the Kashmir region through Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.

Yatris were seen chanting “Bam Bam Bhole” and “Jai Barfani Baba Ki Jai” after arriving in the Kashmir Valley, where they received a grand welcome from the local populace, civil society members and district administration.

Lakhs of devotees from across the country are expected to pay obeisance this year at the 12756 feet high Holy Cave in the Himalayas in the Kashmir region. In light of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22nd, elaborate foolproof security arrangements have been put in place for the safe, seamless and secure pilgrimage to facilitate devotees to pay obeisance at rthe evered cave shrine.

Earlier, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of devotees for the pilgrimage to the holy cave of Shri Amarnath Ji, from Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu, in pre-dawn hours today. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha extended his best wishes to all the pilgrims.
