CG News: Justice Goutam Bhaduri appointed as acting CJ

BILASPUR: The Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, on Friday notified the appointment of senior most judge Justice Goutam Bhaduri asthe acting Chief Justice of High Court of Chhattisgarh with effect from March 11. “In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Justice Goutam Bhaduri, senior-most puisne Judge of High Court of Chhattisgarh, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 11.03.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh,” the notification read. Born on November 10, 1962, in the family of prominent lawyers S K Bhaduri (Father) and P Bhaduri (Grandfather), he did primary and middle schooling in Kalidbadi School Raipur. He completed secondary education from St Paul Higher Secondary School. He did BCom and LLB degree from Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur with a gold medal in LLB. He was elevated as Judge of High Court of Chhattisgarh on September 16, 2013. The Supreme Court Collegium has already recommended the name of Allahabad High Court Senior Judge Justice Ramesh Sinha for the post of Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh.
