BHILAI,CG (INDIA): Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) organised a one-day women-centric initiative combining Mission Lakshmi, a gynaecological health camp, and Nayi Chetna, a women’s rights awareness programme, at its HRD Centre. Targeted at contractual female employees, the programme aimed to promote preventive healthcare, legal awareness, and a safe workplace. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with JLN Hospital & Research Centre, and BSP’s CSR, Industrial Relations, and HR departments.
Pawan Kumar, ED (HR), inaugurated the programme, with senior officials including Sandeep Mathur, CGM (HR), Utpal Dutta, CGM (TSD), and Dr Kaushalendra Thakur, CMO (M&HS) in attendance. Senior doctors, officers, and staff from JLN Hospital actively participated.
A total of 95 women underwent medical examinations, including blood tests, haemoglobin and blood sugar checks, and 35 Pap smear screenings. A quiz competition engaged participants, with 25 winners recognised. Expert sessions addressed key issues: Dr Shubhsmita spoke on child health and vaccination, Dr Nisha Thakur on reproductive health, cancer awareness and menstrual hygiene, and Ms Paromita Dasgupta on balanced nutrition and healthy living.
Under Nayi Chetna, employees were sensitised on legal rights, statutory entitlements, timely wage payments, workplace safety, and maintaining a dignified work environment. ED (HR) Pawan Kumar urged women to adopt preventive health measures and inspire their children towards education, calling it the foundation for future success.
The event was compered by Ms Lata Mishra, AM (M&HS), with welcome remarks by JN Thakur, GM (HR, NW &ES), and Ms Shashi Singh, AM (OBG). Vote of thanks was delivered by Smt Aparna Chandra, DGM (CSR). Senior leadership, including Dr Ravindranath M., ED (M&S), CMO Dr Vineeta Dwivedi, and other officers, guided the programme, while staff including Budhe Lal, Ms Gunjan, Ms Anukriti, and Smt Sapna ensured seamless execution.
Through this initiative, BSP reinforced its commitment to women’s health, empowerment, and welfare, setting a benchmark for corporate responsibility in the industrial sector.
