CG NEWS: Children should move to take their society forward: Murmu

RAIPUR: President of India Droupadi Murmu on Friday said children should move forward using their full potential and also take their society forward.

She was interacting with the students and other members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) at Raj Bhavan on the second day of her stay in Chhattisgarh. Governor Biswabushan Harichandan and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel were also present.

The students and members of Baiga, Pahari Korwa, Kamar, Birhor and Abujhmad were present. She said during tours to different states, ensures that a meeting is held with PVTGs. Everyone knows that they are educationally and socio-economically backward and need encouragement.

The PVGTs should take advantage of the schemes of the Central and State Government. They need to become economically empowered and contribute to the progress of the country.

Vanshika Nureti, a student of Abujhmudia tribe of Narayanpur district, studying in class 9th in Prayas Vidyalaya in the capital city Raipur during interaction said that the state government is providing good coaching for the preparation of NEET. She wants to become a doctor. Mahi of Munar village echoed similar interest.

Om Prakash Maravi, a student of Baiga tribe of Kabirdham district, also wants to become a doctor. Sukhram Nureti, a resident of Kohametta village of Abujhmad area, said that he has made his career after studying in Prayas Residential School. He is working as Assistant Professor in Bastar district by taking advantage of government schemes.

He said more than 1,000 educated youths belonging to special backward tribes have been employed by the state government in government services. The residents of 22 Kamar tribal villages of Dhamtari district have been given habitat rights for the first time.

The Secretary,Tribal Department DD Singh gave a brief of the government schemes and reached out to the tribes.

The President Murmu was given a traditional welcome with Biranmala, Khumri and Kalgi Phenta. Books published by Tribal Research on special tribes were presented to all the guests including the President.
