RAIPUR: The doctors of Heart Chest and Vascular Surgery Department, Advance Cardiac Institute of Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College hospital saved life of a 63-year-old man an accident victim.
Dr. Krishnakant Sahu (Head of Department) said that the 63-year-old man, a resident of Rajim and a teacher by profession, became victim of an accident while coming home from school.
He suffered deep injuries on his head and chest and remained unconscious for some time. Due to his condition, he was shifted from Gariaband Hospital to DKS Hospital, Raipur due to continuous fall of oxygen saturation. Again, he was shifted to the Heart Chest and Vascular Surgery Department of ACI. It was found that he had broken ribs due to which he was having problem of breathing. Even after ventilator support, the patient's oxygen saturation was not good.
Dr Sahu said that the operation was of high risk as more than 7 ribs of the patient's right chest were broken at various places, due to which a flail chest was formed. There was deep injury in the lungs.
He added that to stabilise it, five artificial ribs of titanium plates were used in it. Along with the injury in the lungs was also repaired.
The patient’s daughter a nursing staff in DKS Hospital was happy that her father’s life has become safe as he is now ready to be discharged.
