RAIPUR: Guru Ghasidas Central University Bilaspur, the lone Central University of Chhattisgarh has been included among the Top 50 Universities of India in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
It is for the first time that Guru Ghasidas Central University has got a place in the international ranking with being included in the band of 1001-1200. It includes Indian universities ranked from 44th to 57th. The success is reflection and efforts for implementing the National Education Policy-2020 as per the roadmap, creating a positive academic ambience in the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal having taken over the university from July 24, 2021 has implemented vital plans through innovation and mutual cooperation to provide a quality educational environment, an official communication said.
More than 1200 students were made self-reliant by developing skills among them through MoUs with various national and international level institutions. Various schemes like Swavalambi Chhattisgarh scheme, Guru Ghasidas University Swabhiman Thali (GST), Guru Ghasidas University Shravan Line Scheme (GSL), National Service Scheme, and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan are providing practical and experiential knowledge to the students during the execution of the plans while making them aware of their social responsibilities.
University has promoted entrepreneurship and startup with the establishment of Innovation Centre, Skill Development Centre and Technology Enabling Centre. More than 15 startups have begun, 250 patents, establishment of a Central Research Institute, and the inclusion of 5 technologies at the national level in the recent showcase of 70 best technologies organized by Tech Punjab.
The communication states that 1,799 Universities took part in the ranking from 104 countries, one of the highest in terms of the participation of universities in the world. The ranking was analysed on the basis of 121 million citations out of 15.5 million research publications through a survey of 40,000 researchers.
