CG NEWS: Deadline for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is July 31

RAIPUR,CG: The Chhattisgarh Government’s agriculture department for the Kharif season 2024, farmers must register to avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The deadline for registration is set for July 31, 2024.

Farmers can insure their main crop of paddy (irrigated and non-irrigated) as well as other crops such as maize, urad, and kutki.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is being implemented in Chhattisgarh to provide relief to farmers from crop losses due to natural calamities.

The scheme provides relief to farmers for losses caused by adverse weather conditions, drought, floods, inundation, hailstorms, and other natural calamities. Both loanee and non-loanee farmers who are landowners or sharecroppers can benefit from the scheme. Farmers wishing to insure notified crops in notified villages can do so before the stipulated date by registering with their Aadhaar card, loan book, B-1 patwari khasra, bank passbook copy, and sowing certificate. Insurance can be obtained through banks or Choice Centres.

According to the government notification, different insurance companies have been authorised for various districts, Bajaj General Insurance Company Limited for Bemetara, Bastar, Koriya, Bijapur, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Kabirdham, Janjgir-Champa, Gariaband, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Sakti, and Kanker districts.

Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited for Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Korba, Jashpur, Narayanpur, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Mahasamund, Raigarh, Surajpur, and Kondagaon districts.

HDFC General Insurance Company Limited for Durg, Bilaspur, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Sukma, Mungeli, Surguja, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Balod, Raipur, Dantewada, Balrampur, and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi districts.

Farmers can contact their local Rural Agricultural Extension Officer or the nearest bank branch.
