RAIPUR,CG: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that cow-based natural farming will pave the way for farmers' happiness and prosperity.
Addressing a workshop on organic and natural farming at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, he urged farmers in the ‘paddy bowl’ to adopt organic farming for long-term benefits. He also called for the annual celebration of ‘Farmer’s Day’ on the Shukla Paksha Shashthi Tithi of Bhadrapada month, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Balram.
During the event, the Chief Minister honored farmers excelling in cow-based organic and natural farming, recognizing their efforts in inspiring others. He also conveyed his best wishes to the state’s people on the occasion of Lord Balram birth anniversary.
Sai highlighted the efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to prioritize the prosperity of farmers. He noted that the Ministry of Farmer Welfare has been working towards improving agriculture and increasing farmers' income. Initiatives like horticulture, fisheries, and animal husbandry are gaining prominence, with continuous efforts to double farmers' earnings. An exhibition on organic and natural farming was also held during the workshop.
The Chief Minister acknowledged agriculture as a livelihood for a large population, with various innovations benefiting farmers today. He credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for introducing the Kisan Credit Card (KCC), which provides farmers with low-interest loans. Sai also shared that the state government has distributed a two-year paddy bonus of ₹3,716 crores and purchased a record 145 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Additionally, the budget includes over ₹2,000 crores for irrigation expansion, further boosting farmers' income.
Agriculture Development Minister Ramvichar Netam highlighted the government's efforts under PM Modi's leadership, which have empowered farmers economically. He emphasized the need for cow-based organic farming, supported by research and agricultural scientists, to further strengthen farmers.
MP Brijmohan Aggarwal praised Lord Balram contribution to agriculture, encouraging the promotion of organic and natural farming to fulfill the goals of this celebration.
