RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Arun Sao emphasized the importance of understanding citizens’ duties alongside their rights as enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
Speaking at the Constitution Day program at Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Nava Raipur, Sao described the Constitution as the nation’s “supreme scripture” and underlined the significance of its Preamble, which he referred to as its soul.
The program was attended by HNLU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, along with eminent scholars such as Prof. Yogendra Srivastava, Dr. N.L. Mitra, Dr. Ranveer Singh, and Vipin Kumar.
Addressing the gathering of professors and students, Sao urged citizens to give equal importance to their fundamental duties as to their rights. “Our Constitution grants equal rights to every citizen. However, the discussion often centres solely around rights, neglecting the essential duties that come with them,” he remarked.
As part of the event, the Deputy Chief Minister led the students in reading the Preamble of the Constitution and unveiled the logo for ‘CG Learn,’ a new initiative aimed at advancing legal education and research in Chhattisgarh. He described the platform as a step toward establishing new dimensions in the state’s legal field and strengthening academic collaboration among institutions.
Sao encouraged law institutions across Chhattisgarh to engage in collaborative discussions to enhance the quality of education. “When institutions work together, the state’s law education can reach new heights, earning recognition across the country,” he stated.
