Crackdown on vehicles, cart causing traffic snarls

RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: In Raipur, capital city of Chhattisgarh, a joint team from the district administration, Municipal Corporation, and traffic police has begun a crackdown on vehicles and carts causing traffic disruptions.

Acting on instructions from Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh, the team initiated its action on Wednesday, targeting vehicles parked on roadsides and illegal encroachments. During the operation, two autos were seized by the police, while the Municipal Corporation seized four carts near Ambedkar Chowk. Other drivers were also given advisories to ensure compliance.

The district administration's primary concern is the narrowing of roads due to parked vehicles and encroachments, which causes significant traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. In response, stricter actions have been ordered, not only against illegal parking but also against illegal construction on parking lots, such as warehouses in large basements. Authorities are also targeting locations where garbage is being spread and hoardings have been put up, causing further disruptions. Additionally, illegal carts and vehicles obstructing public spaces will be confiscated.

SSP Santosh Singh and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra emphasized the need for decisive measures to ensure smooth traffic flow. The team, including DSP Gurjit Singh, will continue targeting problem areas throughout the city to tackle these issues effectively.
