JAGDALPUR/SUKMA,CG,BHARAT: A mild earthquake shook parts of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday morning, sending residents into a state of panic. Tremors were felt at around 7:32 a.m. in areas including Dornapal, Konta, and Gadiras, causing people to rush out of their homes. Fortunately, no damage to property or loss of life has been reported so far.
As per the details, the earthquake magnitude was of 5.3 on the Richter scale with the epicentre at Bhadrachalam, Telangana. The tremors were felt at Sukma, Dornapal, Konta, Gadiras, Bijapur, and Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh.
The tremors were also reported in Bijapur and Narayanpur districts. Residents in these areas experienced similar panic but were relieved to find no significant damage.
The earthquake's vibrations were strong enough to be captured on CCTV cameras in some locations, providing a visual record of the event. While there were no casualties or structural damages reported, the tremors caused widespread alarm among residents.
This is not the first time tremors have been felt in the region, as it lies close to the Deccan Plateau seismic zone, making it susceptible to occasional seismic activity.
Local authorities have assured the public that no significant threats have been identified following the tremors. They continue to monitor the situation and have advised residents to remain cautious and aware of safety protocols during such events.
