NSO hosts round table conference on Annual Survey of Industries

RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: The National Statistics Office (NSO), Regional Office, Raipur, organized a one-day round table conference on the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) to raise awareness among industrial units and organizations about its significance in policy formulation. The event took place on Friday at the Mini Conference Hall, New Circuit House, Civil Lines, Raipur.

The conference was presided over by Altaf Hussain Haji, Deputy Director General of the NSO, Raipur. Welcoming the participants, R.K. Shrivastava, Senior Statistical Officer and Head of Office, emphasized the importance of the survey.

In his keynote address, Altaf Hussain Haji outlined the utility of the ASI, conducted annually under the Collection of Statistics Act, 2008, and its accompanying rules of 2011. The survey collects critical data on capital, turnover, value addition, fuel and raw materials, input-output analysis, employment, working days, and social security benefits. This data is pivotal for estimating national income, gross domestic product (GDP), and for shaping various policy frameworks.

The Deputy Director General urged industrial representatives to ensure accurate and timely submission of data through the NSO’s web portal, assuring them of full support from NSO officials for any assistance required.

Addressing the gathering, Amar Parwani, a prominent industrial leader, encouraged industrial units to actively participate in the survey, stressing its role in driving the industrial progress of both Chhattisgarh and the nation. Shankar Bajaj, President of the Chhattisgarh Federation of Industries, pledged complete cooperation from the industrial sector.

Other speakers, including Vikram Jain, General Secretary of the Urla Industries Association, and Nilesh Mundra, Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, reiterated the importance of the survey for policy planning and industrial growth. Saroj Singh, Deputy Director at the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Chhattisgarh, also attended the event.

The conference concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by R.K. Shrivastava. The event was attended by Senior Statistical Officers Yasin Ali, O.P. Sahu, R.N. Soni, Shreeni E., Vijay Rakhonde, Santosh Rana, Bhiroj Lenka, Anoop Ba, Dhananjay Kumar, Hemant Birje, Jeetu Rajak, Santosh Singh, and Plabani Das, along with representatives from various industrial units across the state.
