NIT Raipur launches workshop on IoT in Healthcare Applications

RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: The Department of Information Technology at NIT Raipur inaugurated a week-long workshop titled "IoT-Health: IoT Enabling Technology, Security, and Its Application on Healthcare" on Monday. Sponsored by IBITF (NM-ICPS) under DST, the event is being conducted in physical mode.

The inauguration ceremony featured Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao, Director of NIT Raipur, as the Chief Guest, alongside Guests of Honor Dr. Anil Kumar Goel (AIIMS Raipur) and Dr. Satya Prakash Sahu, Associate Professor at NIT Raipur.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar, outlined the workshop's objectives. The inaugural session included insights from key speakers like Dr. Anil Kumar Goel and Dr. Manas (AIIMS Raipur), and Dr. Saikat Majumdar (NIT Raipur), focusing on malnutrition, global statistics, and the role of IoT in addressing Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).

Speakers highlighted how IoT technologies can provide real-time monitoring and data collection for nutrition, food safety, and health indicators. IoT-enabled devices such as smart sensors and wearables were showcased for their potential to assist healthcare providers in tracking and intervening in malnutrition cases. These technologies pave the way for data-driven strategies and personalized healthcare solutions.

Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao emphasized the transformative role of IoT in improving quality of life, positioning it as a rapidly growing and impactful field.

The workshop brings together renowned experts from institutions like IITs (Bombay, Hyderabad, Roorkee, Tirupati), AIIMS Raipur, and NITs (Warangal, Sikkim, Mizoram). It aims to explore recent advances in IoT technologies and their applications, particularly in healthcare, offering participants an opportunity for hands-on learning and research engagement.
